Biology II *** Extra Credit Opportunities *** Mr. Arbo

A student may submit one (1) extra credit assignment for each category during a single grading period.  All extra credit must be turned in by the Friday before Exam week.

1.  Create a web page explaining a topic covered this term.  Topics may be chosen from class lectures or discussions or from the textbook.   It should include pictures, objects or graphics to represent concepts.  Credit will be up to 5 points added to any test grade depending on the quality of the web page and how clear the explanation is.

2.  Make a game using a topic covered in this course.   This can be a board game (like Monopoly, Parchesi, etc.), a classroom game (7-up, Around the World, etc.), or a new, creative game invented by you!  The game must include some aspect which challenges a student's knowledge of Anatomy.  The best way to choose material is to browse through the textbook.  Credit will be up to 5 points added to any test grade depending on the quality of the  game and how well it utilizes concepts of Anatomy.   All games must be neatly boxed.

3.  Create an internet worksheet that relates to a topic that is covered in class.  (Or any section from the textbook).   It should include at least 20 questions or activities involving a web page that you have found.  The web page must be pre-approved by the teacher and the worksheet directions must be e-mailed or submitted on a floppy disk.   Credit will be up to 5 points added to any test grade depending on the quality of the worksheet and the associated web page.

4.  Create a 5 minute video explaining a topic covered in class.  Topics may be chosen from class lectures or discussions or from the textbook.   You may videotape people or objects but do not simply tape a person talking or explaining the topic.  It should include pictures, objects or people moving around to represent variables or quantities.  Credit will be up to 5 points added to any test grade depending on the quality of the  video and how clear the explanation is.

5.  Build a 3-dimensional model for a concept that is covered in class.  (Or any section from the textbook).   Topics must be pre-approved by the teacher.  Examples are molecules of organic compounds, organelles, and specific microscopic organisms.  Credit will be up to 5 points added to any test grade depending on the quality of the model and its 3-dimensional nature.
